This was a little spontaneous day-trip up to Sequoia National Park! We hiked, explored, saw a bear (!), had a nice car picnic, took a dip in the Kaweah River, and topped of the day with some bouldering.
To catch the sunrise, we went to Moro Rock, which is at the edge of Giant Forest. It's about a quarter-mile to get to the top, and after some stops to take in the views (and to get over the fear of heights, ha), the views were definitely worth it! After the hike, we explored more of the Giant Forest. Really enjoyed seeing the light come through the trees 😌
I was excited to finally test out a dreamy lens I bought on a whim during this sunrise - Helios 44-2 58mm F2 lens. Love a good vintage lens to get that light!
After a stop to eat some well-crafted sandwiches and all the snacks, we headed to the river to beat the heat! We hiked up a bit on the Tokopah Trailhead and found a perfect area near the river - we had the spot all to ourselves! Super relaxing and probably my favorite part of the day!
To top off the day, we found some boulders via my offline map on the Mountain Project app. We have not been bouldering in so long, so this was a fun (but humbling) treat!
It definitely was a packed 18 hour day, but full of good times for the memory bank.
Hopefully next time we plan to camp overnight instead though 😝
